The CTIP Cell organized a Skill & Personality Development Training Programme for M.Com part II students from 22nd September to 29th September 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The training was conducted by Ms. Ashita Ranjit, Head of Training & Development at Vidya Vikas Mandal. The training program aimed at equipping students with essential life and workplace skills to make them job-ready and confident for future professional challenges. The training covered crucial aspects such as communication skills, presentation abilities, interview preparation, time management, leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and grooming etiquette. The topics covered day wise sessions were as follows:
Day 1: Introduction to Modules – 22/09/25
On the first day, Ms. Ranjit introduced the various modules that would be covered during the week. She explained the importance of communication skills (verbal and para-verbal), language proficiency, negotiation abilities, presentation skills, interpersonal effectiveness, leadership qualities, personality development, time management, interview preparation, and professional dressing etiquette. This overview highlighted how these skills are interconnected and essential for personal as well as professional growth.
Day 2: Presentation Skills – 23/09/25
The second day focused on presentation skills. The resource person stressed the importance of confidence, effective body language, posture, and voice modulation. She guided students on handling stress, staying calm during unexpected errors, and dressing appropriately yet comfortably for presentations. She emphasized that a confident demeanour and clear delivery often leave a stronger impact than just the content of the presentation.
Day 3: Interview Preparation – 24/09/25
On the third day, Ms. Ranjit provided insights into interview readiness. She highlighted the need to prepare for common questions such as strengths and weaknesses, personal background, knowledge of current affairs (domestic and global), and company-specific queries. Practical advice was shared on preparing a CV, arranging documents, arriving early, grooming, and selecting appropriate attire. Students were encouraged to conduct mental simulations of interviews to build confidence and reduce anxiety.
Day 4: Handling Interview Questions – 25/09/25
The fourth session was dedicated to types of interview questions and responses. Ms. Ranjit explained situational, behavioural, leadership, critical, and casual small-talk questions that interviewers often use. She taught the etiquette of greetings, maintaining professionalism throughout the interaction, and closing an interview gracefully. Students also learned how to ask relevant questions to interviewers, reflecting curiosity and enthusiasm about the role.
Day 5 : Time Management – 27/09/25
Day five emphasized time management as a key life and career skill. The session highlighted its benefits such as reducing stress, increasing productivity, discipline, and allowing personal time for hobbies. Common reasons for time wastage, including procrastination, social media overuse, poor prioritization, and unrealistic goals, were discussed. Various techniques were introduced, including the SMART framework, Pomodoro Technique, Eisenhower Decision Matrix, and task delegation. Students realized that effective time management is central to both academic and career success.
Day 6 : Dressing & Grooming Etiquette – 29/09/25
The final day focused on professional dressing and grooming. Ms. Ranjit guided students on maintaining a professional yet comfortable wardrobe, the importance of minimal but effective accessories like watches and belts, and proper colour coordination of clothes. She stressed the need for personal hygiene, carrying essentials such as deodorant, mouthwash, and touch-up kits, and consistently maintaining a polished appearance. This session helped students understand how first impressions are often shaped by one’s appearance and grooming.
The Skill & Personality Development Training, conducted by Ms. Ashita Ranjit, proved to be a comprehensive and enriching learning experience. Over the span of six days, students not only gained awareness of the expectations of the corporate world but also learned how to practically apply these skills in their daily lives.
Expected Outcome of the Activity
The training enhanced students’ communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, while equipping them with time management, interview preparedness, and grooming etiquette. It boosted their confidence and employability, making them better prepared for academic and professional challenges.
