Master of Commerce (M.Com)

The M.Com programme at VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics was introduced in 2006 and has since established a strong academic reputation, with students consistently performing well and securing University ranks.

The programme is a two-year, 80-credit programme governed by Goa University Ordinance OA-35A, effective from the Academic Year 2025–26. It provides advanced knowledge in Commerce and Business while developing students’ analytical, problem-solving, technological and professional skills.

Students can pursue one of two specializations—Accounting & Finance or Business Management. The curriculum encompasses advanced areas such as financial management, accounting, taxation, marketing, management, research, business analytics and emerging areas of business, enabling students to build competencies aligned with diverse career opportunities.

The programme places strong emphasis on research and analytical skills through Research Methodology, research-oriented courses and a substantial dissertation component. Seminars, guest lectures, field exposure and other academic activities further provide opportunities to connect classroom learning with practical applications.

The programme also supports students aspiring to teaching, research and academic careers, including preparation for NET/SET examinations. In the final stage, students undertake a Discipline Specific Dissertation, with an internship pathway in lieu of the dissertation where applicable, subject to the University’s prescribed provisions and approved modalities.
Overall, the M.Com programme aims to develop competent, research-oriented and industry-ready professionals, preparing students for careers in accounting, banking, finance, taxation, auditing, management, teaching, research and other fields of Commerce and Business.
