Ms. Abigale Rodrigues, faculty from Department of Commerce and Management was deputed for the One Day State level workshop on Equity investments at GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce & Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda on 1st April 2026. The program aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical financial concepts and practical market operations, covering fundamental analysis, taxation and statutory compliance.

Session I: Fundamental Analysis and Market Operations * Speaker: Mr. Chirag Majithya
The session emphasized the significance of Fundamental Analysis in evaluating listed entities. Discussions covered various trading formats and the specific risk-reward profiles associated with each. A live demonstration of trade executions was provided, illustrating the real-time flow from order entry to the finalization of the trade book and order summary.
Session II: Equity Cashflows and Taxation Framework * Speaker: CA Ms. Pradnya Bhat
This segment addressed the financial outcomes of equity transactions and the subsequent tax implications. Detailed analysis of Long-Term Capital Gains (LTCG) and Short-Term Capital Gains (STCG) arising from equity sales and derivative contracts. Guidance was provided on selecting appropriate Income Tax Return (ITR) forms for the current assessment year. The speaker highlighted the critical importance of timely and accurate filing, noting that the penalties for non-compliance significantly outweigh those for mere delays.
Session III: Interactive Panel Discussion
A collaborative panel discussion involving both resource persons and participants. Topics included the comparative advantages of direct equity investments versus equity-linked mutual funds and the management of associated tax liabilities. Participant queries regarding market volatility and tax efficiency were addressed with professional precision, concluding the workshop at 04:30 PM.
