Parent-Teacher Association Annual General Body Meeting 2026–27

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Annual General Body Meeting of V.V.M.’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics was held on 11th July 2026 in Hall No. 1 with enthusiastic participation from parents, faculty members, and the College administration.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Vice-President and Convenor of the PTA, who highlighted the importance of fostering a strong partnership between parents and the institution. Ms. Cinola Vaz, Secretary of the PTA, presented the minutes of the previous meeting, while Mrs. Leena Kavlekar, President of the PTA, appreciated the College’s continuous efforts in maintaining effective communication and collaboration with parents.

The Principal Prof. Sanjay Sawant Dessai initiated and moderated Parents Input Session enabled parents to discuss various academic and student welfare issues, including internships, attendance, timetables, mentoring, campus safety, discipline, and industry readiness. Addressing parents’ concerns, he reaffirmed the College’s commitment to the holistic development of students. He also encouraged parents to motivate their children to make regular use of the library, participate in sports, fitness  and extracurricular activities, follow road safety practices, and maintain open communication within the family.

Dr Sheetal Arondekar, Vice Principal Self Finance introduced the Resourse Person Ms. Sandhya Chawan, Counselling Psychologist. This was followed by an enriching expert session titled “Today’s Young Adults – Understanding, Connecting & Supporting.” Drawing from her experience in educational institutions, private practice, and community mental health, she shared practical insights into understanding the emotional and behavioural changes experienced by young adults. She emphasized the importance of empathy, trust, effective communication, and emotional support in strengthening parent-child relationships. The highly interactive session was well appreciated by the parents.

The meeting witnessed attendance of 250 parents.  Ms. Vrutha Karmali compered for the programme.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Shami Pai, Vice Principal, followed by the National Anthem.
