The Cultural Council of the College celebrated tradition with an Inter – Program Ghumat Aarti Competition on August 23, 2025, held in Hall 01, at 10:00 am. The event brought together five teams from various programs, each comprising a combination of eight male and female participants. 50 students participated in the competition.
The competition was graced by the presence of our distinguished alumni, Mr. Omkar Naik and Mr. Ronak R. Naik, who served as the esteemed judges. The proceedings commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Convenor, Cultural Council.
Each team’s performance was evaluated on key parameters including their seamless coordination, the soulful rendition of aartis, and the authenticity of their traditional presentation. The judges were honoured with a memento, by Asst. Prof. Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar and Asst. Prof. Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, as a token of the College’s sincere appreciation.
The competition’s top honour went to the B.Com Program, with Team Ekdanta claiming the First Place and Team Lambodara securing the Second Place. The event concluded at 10:45 am with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Trushank Prabhudessai, Cultural Secretary of the College, leaving the campus buzzing with festive energy just before the Ganesh Break. The overall Faculty Incharge for the competition was Asst. Prof. Pooja Shanbhag. A total of 50 students participated in the competition.
Expected Outcome of the Activity:
- The competition will serve as a platform for students to hone their musical and performative skills in a traditional art form, while fostering teamwork and collaboration along with strong interpersonal bonds with peers.
It will play a small but significant role in revitalizing traditional Goan art forms like the Ghumat and its associated aarti rituals, ensuring their continued relevance among the youth.
