Induction & Deeksharambh for Students of Computer Science Department

The Department of Computer Science organized an Induction Programme for the new batch of students of FYBCA and FYBVoc.(Software Technologies) on 23rd June 2025 in Hall 1. The Induction Programme aimed to welcome and provide information on facilities and opportunities to new students at our college campus. The Induction for students of self-finance,followed after the BCom Programme induction which marked the beginning of the day with an invocation song and lighting of the traditional lamp by Principal , Vice Principal, Head Clerk, Senior Faculty Members, Programme Coordinators and one new student. Invoking the Blessings of Lord Shree Damodar, a garland was instilled on the portrait of Lord Shree Damodar by the dignitaries.

Vice Principal Dr. Shami Pai addressed the students, welcoming them to the College and highlighting the institution’s commitment to provide opportunities in academics, sports and extracurricular activities for a holistic development of a student. Further, all the teaching and non-teaching faculty members introduced themselves to the students.

During the Induction Program, the Convenors of Students and Cultural Council, Sports Council, Library committee and NCC (Navy and Army) provided information about activities to students. Principal Prof. Sanjay Sawant Desai addressed the First-year students and encouraged them to have a reading habit and be knowledgeable of things and events around the locality and in the job market to understand how to skill up yourself to be better prepared for the awaiting world.

The Induction program ended by proposing the Vote of Thanks by BBA Programme Coordinator Dr. Sonya Angle and the function was compered by Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Asst. Prof. in English and Ms. Girija Gaonkar, Asst. Prof. in Computer Science.

The College has a lot of Department specific pathways to work with students in helping them achieve their goal. These pathways were explained to students through the mechanism of Deeksharambh in the next two to three weeks of their classroom journey.  The content included orientation, awareness and knowing how to get information and make good use of it for academics & co-curricular activities. The following was covered in the Deekshaarambh sessions:

  • Examination Scheme
  • Student Welfare Cell
  • TechTrendz Club
  • Training & Certificate Courses
  • Internships
  • Career,E-Cell & Incubation
  • Placements
  • Student Participation (Internal & external)
  • BItbuzz and Spectra Events

The students were curious to identify their skillset to grab the opportunities provided by the various committees. Deekshaarambh was attended by all FY students in their respective classrooms from 24th June to 15th July. .All the faculty members of the Department contributed in explaining the above content to students and helped in making the programme a success. Programme Coordinator for BCA and BVoc.(ST) Programmes,  Ms. Sweta P. Shet Verenkar and Asst. Prof. in Computer Science, Mr. Andre Pacheco and Mr. Amogh Pai Raiturkar were the faculty incharges for Deeksharambh & Induction Programme. A total of 114 students ( 70 Male Students and 44 Female Students) from FYBCA and FYBVoc.(ST) were present.

Expected Outcome of the Activity: All FY Students must properly understand the opportunities and facilities provided by the college in the respective departments with focus on the course that the student has opted for. This will help the student adjust and adapt to the curriculum and the college environment and be more proactive and confident with information known to the student.
