U. N. Bene Online Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition

The Cultural Council organized ‘U. N. Bene Online Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition’ on Saturday, 28-05-2022 from 08:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. through Google Meet platform. The theme of the competition was ‘Goa@60’. A total of seven teams registered for the competition through Google Form.

The competition commenced at 09:00 a.m. after the inaugural function at 08:30 a.m. At the inaugural function, Prof. Dr. Prita D. Mallya, Principal of Shree Damodar College welcomed the virtual gathering while Asst. Prof. Preksha Chopdekar briefed on the activities of the Cultural Council and introduced the Quiz Master Mr. Suraj Kamat, Founder, The Quiz Labs.

The competition was conducted in two rounds, viz, the preliminary round and the final round. For the preliminary round, there were twenty-five questions, which were answered by the participants within thirty minutes through a time-based Google Form. The link to the Google Form was mailed to the participants five minutes prior to the commencement of the preliminary round. Each participant answered the preliminary round individually. The average score of the two highest scoring participants from a particular team were considered for deciding the teams that qualified for the final round. Only the teams qualifying in the preliminary round participated in the final round.

The final round comprised of five rounds based on the following themes: Round 1: History, Heritage and Biodiversity; Round 2: Governance and Polity; Round 3: Geography, Business and Economy; 4: Sports and 5: Music, Entertainment, Literature and Arts. The final round was held in a relay format, viz., each round was played by an individual member of the team. No member could play two consecutive rounds and each member played at least one round. The winning team was decided based on the aggregate score of all four rounds of the final round.

The competition ended at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Valedictory Function at 11:30 a.m. wherein the quiz master Mr. Suraj Kamat appreciated the Council and the College for consistently organizing the competition even amidst the pandemic crisis. Dr. Rodney D’Silva, Vice-Principal proposed the Vote of Thanks while Asst. Prof. Mayuresh Adsul declared the winners.

All the participants received e-certificates after they provided their feedback through Google Form. The participants provided a very positive feedback about the competition and appreciated the organizers for organizing the competition very meticulously even in an online mode. Ms. Blessy S. (TY B.Com-D) was the compere for the competition. Mr. Jackson Rodrigues (TYBCom-B), the General Secretary of the Cultural Council was the student in-charge while Asst. Prof. Mayuresh Adsul and Asst. Prof. Samiksha Vengurlekar were the faculty in-charge for the same.
