Report of Celebration of 11th International Yoga Day

The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2025 by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, along with NSS, NCC Army, and NCC Navy Wing, in collaboration with Art of Living, Goa. The event was held in the College Multipurpose hall and was conducted in two sessions, one for staff and the other for students. The theme for this year’s Yoga Day was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The staff session, held from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, began with the lighting of the lamp and garlanding of Lord Damodar’s portrait. Dr. Ajinkia Kurtikar, Director of Physical Education & Sports, welcomed the gathering. The resource person, Ms. Tanuja Sardessai, Faculty at Art of Living, was introduced by Sub. Lt. Pretty Pereira, ANO of NCC Navy Wing.

Ms. Tanuja conducted a yoga session that included asanas such as Ardha Matsyendrasana, Trikonasana, Tadasana, Pavanamuktasana, Paschimottanasana, Shalabhasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, and Parvatasana, followed by pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Sheetali) and meditation. The session concluded with a relaxation practice. The Principal felicitated the Resource Person with a potted plant, and Mr. Saurab Raikar delivered the Vote of Thanks. The student session began at 9:00 AM and was led by Ms. Shubhada Keni, Volunteer from Art of Living, who was introduced by Mr. Sanjay Velip, NSS Program Officer. She guided the students through various yoga asanas and meditation. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Lt. Sandesh Gaonkar, ANO of NCC Army Wing, and a memento was presented to the Resource Person by Dr. Ajinkia Kurtikar. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ajinkia Kurtikar, Mr. Saurab Raikar, Lt. Sandesh Gaonkar, Sub. Lt. Pretty Pereira, and Mr. Sanjay Velip, ensuring a well-organized and impact celebration. The function was compered by Ms. Samiskha Vengulekar, Assistant Professor in English.

43 students and 70 staff attended the session.
