The South Goa District Disaster Management cell organized a Civil Defence Mock Drill on 7th May 2025 at the Indian Oil Corporation, Vasco. The primary objective of this drill was to prepare personnel and stakeholders for effective response during emergencies, especially in critical industrial installations.
A total of 6 cadets from the NCC Naval Wing participated in the Civil Defence Mock Drill at Indian oil cooperation Vasco. These cadets were part of a larger group of 40 cadets from the 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC. The participating group included 5 Senior Division (SD) cadets and 1 Senior Wing (SW) cadet.
The NCC Naval Wing cadets actively took part in the mock exercise, demonstrating their discipline, coordination, and readiness to act in disaster-like situations. The mock drill simulated various emergency scenarios including fire, explosion, evacuation procedures, and first aid response. Cadets observed and interacted with officials from fire services, civil defence teams, and local law enforcement, gaining valuable exposure to real-time crisis management protocols.
The drill served as a vital learning experience, enabling cadets to understand the roles and responsibilities of different emergency response agencies. It also highlighted the importance of teamwork, timely communication, and preparedness during emergencies.
Such activities not only equip cadets with practical knowledge but also instilling in them a strong sense of civic responsibility and readiness to serve the nation in times of need.
The Civil Defence Mock Drill was a successful initiative that provided NCC cadets with hands-on experience in disaster preparedness and civil defence mechanisms. The participation of cadets contributed to the overall effectiveness of the event and underscored the importance of youth involvement in national safety and disaster management initiatives.
