The Coaching for Professional Courses Cell, organized an informative and interactive Career Awareness Session on Company Secretary (CS) on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM in Classroom S205. The session aimed to provide valuable career counseling and guidance to students interested in pursuing the Company Secretary course as a professional qualification. The program commenced with a warm welcome extended by Assistant Professor Sandesh Gaonkar to the Resource Person and her team. Ms. Aditi Patil, student of SYBCOM A introduced the Resource Person to the audience.
CS Pooja Shirodkar, Member of the Goa Chapter of WIRC-ICSI, brought with her a wealth of practical knowledge and real-world insights about the profession, making the session highly engaging and informative.
During the session, the Speaker elaborated on the role and importance of a Company Secretary in today’s corporate landscape, the course structure, eligibility criteria for enrollment and details of the registration process with ICSI. Career avenues available after qualifying, such as roles in corporate legal affairs, regulatory compliance, governance advisory, and entrepreneurship were also explained in detail. She stressed on the significance of CS professionals in ensuring ethical governance, legal compliance, and strategic decision-making within companies. She also shared her own journey as a CS professional, inspiring students to consider the profession not just for job prospects but for the long-term value and respect it commands in the corporate and legal domain. The session also included a Q&A segment, where students clarified their doubts related to the course registration, subjects, examination patterns, and employment opportunities. Many students expressed a newfound interest in exploring the CS course as a viable and prestigious career path. Around 26 interested students attended the session. Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Assistant Professor in Commerce proposed the vote of thanks.
Expected Outcome of the Activity:
- Get practical knowledge about the three stages of the CS course – CSEET, Executive, and Professional – along with the registration procedures.
- Understand the academic qualifications required and the steps involved in enrolling for the CS course through ICSI.
- Identify various job roles and sectors where ccompany secretary can be employed, such as corporate firms, consultancies, legal departments, and regulatory bodies.
