Cultural Council

Over the past five decades, Shree Damodar College has made a name for itself in the cultural arena. Students  excel in the performing arts, fine arts, visual arts, literary activities, etc. within the College and at the inter-college level as well.

The Cultural Council of the College plays a pivotal role in nurturing the creative talents of the students. Through a comprehensive array of activities, the council offers a diverse range of opportunities for artistic expression. In-house competitions, including patriotic singing, annual singing competition, poster competition, poetry writing and recitations, as well as literary events such as quizzes, debates, elocution, essay writing serve as platforms for students to showcase their skills. Moreover, the Council conducts various on-stage and off-stage events, encompassing dance, mime, skits, mehendi, hair designing and like activities during the fun week. The Council notably organizes the prestigious intercollegiate events such as the U.N. Bene Quiz and Mahatma Gandhi-Essay cum Presentation Competition.  It collaboratively, joins forces with other student bodies like the Students Council and Sports Council in organizing the grand Anantara- Inter-Collegiate Competition. The Fine Arts and Performing Arts Club organizes workshops to nurture students’ talents.  This multifaceted approach empowers our students to both participate in and organize events, fostering their growth as artists and contributing to their success even beyond their college years, making a lasting impact in the fields of culture and art.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF CULTURAL COUNCIL

• Organization of intramural activities in performing arts, fine arts, literary activities, etc.
• Conduct of the U N Bene Inter-College Quiz Competition
• Conduct of the Mahatma Gandhi Inter-College Essay-cum-Presentation Competition on Martyrs’ Day
• Identification and celebration of selected International/National Days of importance
• Working closely with the Students’ Council and Sports Council to organize intramural and inter-College events, particularly Anantara
• Working closely with the Students’ Council and Sports Council to select and depute students for events organized by other Colleges
• Timely submission of the list of students eligible for entitlement marks
• Organization of workshops / certificate courses for students in performing arts, fine arts, visual arts, public speaking, etc.
• Organization of activities in performing arts, fine arts, literary activities, etc. for staff members
