Field Trip to Nirmal Vishwa

pic4A field trip was organised on March 12th for the students of SY B.Com Divisions B & C to Nirmal Vishwa – Lokvan, Ponda. Around 60 students were part of the trip. Students were accompanied by Asst. Professors Roohi Khan and Poorva Gude.

Nirmal Vishwa is an NGO that works for the environment. It conducts various campaigns and workshops such as Clean and Green campaign, anti-pollution activities, afforestation programs, watershed development, waste management, organic farming, and heritage conservation.

Mrs. Gulab Borkar, a member of the NGO gave the students a guided tour of Nirmal Vishwa and enlightened them about the various environment friendly practices being implemented by the NGO. Students were shown different models of biogas production, vertical farming, rain water harvesting, vermi compost and more.

A session on energy conservation was conducted by Ms. Apoorva Apte, Proprietor Shubhankar Environmental Services. She taught the students to read and understand electricity bill, tariffs, charges based on consumption and discussed energyPic3 conservation methods which can be implemented at home.

A second session on Vermicompost and waste management was conducted by Prakash Ghate, one of the founder members of Nirmal Vishwa. He demonstrated the method of Vermicompost and stressed its importance.

Mrs. Rekha Joshi conducted a session on garbage management at home. She explained innovative methods of managing garbage.

All the sessions were very informative and useful for the students. Each session was followed by interaction with students.
