Community Outreach Program

A community outreach program was conducted on the topic of “Career Options after 10th standard” for 10th standard students at St. Theresa’s High school, Vasco-Goa, by S.Y.B.Com. students of Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao-Goa on 4th February, 2019.

Four students who had participated in this program were Ms. Yakshita Vengurlekar, Mr. Raju Gupta, Mr. Ganesh Kumavat and Mr. Runal Thakur from SY B.Com.  The above students delivered a talk on career options available after completing secondary school education under the guidance of Ms. Pallavi Shinde, Assistant Professor in Economics.

Our college participants introduced themselves to the crowd and Mr. Raju Gupta began the session by highlighting the importance of one’s ability and interest in choosing a right career option. He also explained the factors needed to be considered while choosing any stream or career after 10th standard. Ms. Yakshita Vengurlekar explained about the different career options under Science stream. Mr. Runal Thakur listed the career options available under Commerce stream. Mr. Ganesh Kumavat spoke on different available career options under Arts and Vocational stream. The students were also made aware about the details of Higher Secondary Schools in Goa and the colleges offering different professional and non-professional courses. Finally, Mr. Raju Gupta highlighted upon the role of uniqueness and innovation in emerging career option like ‘Entreprenuership’.

Around 93 students had participated in the program. The Headmistress of the institution, Sister Lina Gracias, the students and teachers liked the talk very much. Further, they thanked and congratulated our students for coming up with such an interesting and informative presentation at the right time during the academic year. Ms. Pallavi Shinde, Assistant Professor of Shree Damodar College expressed her gratitude towards the Headmistress and Management of St. Theresa’s School for permitting our college students to conduct this program for society’s benefit. Overall, this community outreach program was a great success.
